Alexandre Couder

Alexandre Couder (1808, 1879) was a French academic painter known for his history paintings, portraits, and religious compositions. A student of the renowned painter Antoine-Jean Gros, he exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon and received official commissions for works in French churches and public buildings. His style reflects the classical academic tradition dominant in 19th-century France.
