Gustave de Jonghe (1829, 1893) was a Belgian painter celebrated for his exquisitely detailed depictions of elegant women in opulent interiors, often rendered in a Romantic and academic style. He trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and later achieved considerable success in Paris, where his works were regularly exhibited at the Salon. His paintings are highly sought after at auction for their refined technique, rich textures, and intimate portrayals of bourgeois and aristocratic femininity.
