Orange you gold I didn't say banana?
2019
This hand thrown porcelain sculpture presents a spherical form suggesting an eye or fantastical creature, densely covered in radiating petal or scale like protrusions in coral orange with gilded edges. The central opening reveals a dark pupil surrounded by concentric rings of warm gold luster, creating an almost anthropomorphic gaze. The surface texture results from the artists' signature accreted technique, building up countless small ceramic elements to create dimension and movement across the form. The warm palette of coral, cream, and burnished gold demonstrates a sophisticated approach to ceramic materiality, while the whimsical subject matter reflects the Haas Brothers' playful engagement with craft tradition and design.
