"We The People" by Danh Vô is a large scale installation that references the opening words of the U.S. Constitution while interrogating themes of citizenship, belonging, and national identity through the artist's characteristic use of found materials and deconstructed objects. The work engages with Vô's ongoing practice of appropriating historical and cultural artifacts to explore the experiences of displacement and migration that inform his Vietnamese American perspective. Through its monumental presentation, the piece simultaneously invokes and destabilizes the authority of foundational American political rhetoric.
