Untitled
A monumental black steel sculpture composed of stacked rectangular and cubic forms that read as an abstracted standing human figure. The work exemplifies Antony Gormley's long running investigation into the body as a site of transformation, rendered here through geometric steel volumes rather than cast anatomical form. Photographed in an architecturally refined interior setting against warm wood paneling, the dark matte surface of the sculpture creates a striking contrast with its surroundings. A second related sculpture by Gormley is visible in a companion image, showing a gestural arrangement of intersecting black steel bars also evoking a walking human figure.
