Kachina Doll, from Cowboys and Indians
A vibrant and graphic screenprint, Warhol transforms the traditional Hopi Kachina Doll into a bold, flattened image rendered in his signature pop art style, using vivid, contrasting colors to elevate a symbol of Native American spiritual culture into the realm of iconic imagery. Part of his 1986 *Cowboys and Indians* series, Warhol explores the mythology and romanticized iconography of the American West, juxtaposing indigenous traditions with the lens of mass-media culture. Printed on Lenox Museum Board, this unique work showcases Warhol's masterful use of the screenprint medium to simultaneously celebrate and interrogate the symbols that define the American identity.
