Equivalent, from Set E (Print 3)

1923

"Equivalent, from Set E (Print 3)" is a gelatin silver print by photographer Alfred Stieglitz, part of his series of cloud photographs created between 1925 and 1934. Through close framing and tonal abstraction, Stieglitz captured shifting cloud formations to explore how photography could convey emotional and spiritual states independent of literal representation. The Equivalents series challenged conventional landscape photography and helped establish photography as a fine art medium capable of expressing subjective, modernist sensibilities.
