John Knuth — Stellar Dispersion
John Knuth

Stellar Dispersion

2015

John Knuth's *Stellar Dispersion* is a four-panel work created using an unconventional process in which flies are fed pigmented liquid and allowed to deposit specks across the canvas surface, building up layers of mark-making that are at once organic and systematic. The resulting composition evokes the vast scatter of stars and cosmic matter across deep space, blurring the boundary between biological process and celestial phenomenon. Mounted on panel, the work transforms the humble and abject into something luminous and monumental.
