Zhu Wei

Zhu Wei (born 1966) is a Beijing-based contemporary Chinese artist known for his ink paintings that blend traditional Chinese techniques with sharp political and social commentary. His work often depicts figures in military uniforms, officials, and archetypes of Chinese society rendered in a classical brush style, creating an ironic tension between historical form and modern critique. He is considered one of the leading figures in the Political Pop and New Ink movements that emerged in China following the 1980s reform era.
