Willem van Aelst was a Dutch Golden Age painter renowned for his exquisite still-life compositions featuring flowers, game, and hunting trophies. Born in Delft in 1627, he developed a highly refined style characterized by dramatic lighting, asymmetrical arrangements, and meticulous attention to texture and detail. He worked at the Medici court in Florence before settling in Amsterdam, where he became one of the most influential still-life painters of his era.
