Tony O'Malley was an Irish self-taught artist born in Callan, County Kilkenny, Ireland, known primarily for his painting. He worked as a bank official until tuberculosis in the 1940s led him to pursue painting more seriously during his convalescence. He began exhibiting his work in 1951 and went on to become one of Ireland's most celebrated artists.
