Thomas Luny was an English marine painter known for his vivid depictions of naval battles, seascapes, and coastal scenes. Born in 1759, he trained under the marine artist Francis Holman and developed a distinctive style capturing the drama and atmosphere of the sea. Despite suffering from severe arthritis later in life, he continued to paint prolifically until his death in 1837.
