Srihadi Soedarsono (1931, 2014) was one of Indonesia's most celebrated modern painters, renowned for his lyrical abstractions rooted in Javanese culture, spirituality, and the natural landscapes of his homeland. His work masterfully blended Eastern philosophical sensibilities with Western modernist techniques, often featuring meditative depictions of Balinese dancers, rice fields, and coastal scenes rendered in soft, luminous tones. Regarded as a national cultural treasure, Srihadi was a professor at the Bandung Institute of Technology and played a pivotal role in shaping Indonesian modern art through both his practice and his teaching.
