Pavlos Dionyssopoulos, known simply as Pavlos, is a Greek artist born in 1930 in Lamia, Greece, who became a prominent figure in the Parisian avant-garde scene after settling in Paris in the 1950s. He is best known for his distinctive assemblages and sculptures made from tightly rolled or crumpled materials such as plastic bags, packaging, and everyday consumer goods, transforming mass-produced detritus into visually striking works that engage with themes of consumerism and Pop Art. Associated with the Nouveau Réalisme movement and celebrated internationally, his work bridges European and American Pop sensibilities through a playful yet critical examination of contemporary material culture.
