Paul Caponigro (born 1932) is an American fine art photographer renowned for his deeply meditative and spiritually evocative black-and-white images of landscapes, ancient stone monuments, and natural forms. Influenced by Minor White and Alfred Stieglitz, he developed a contemplative approach that seeks to reveal the inner life and energy of his subjects, particularly in series exploring Stonehenge, Irish megalithic sites, and New England landscapes. He is considered one of the foremost figures in American photography and has been recognized with multiple Guggenheim Fellowships.
