Orazio Borgianni was an Italian Baroque painter born in Rome around 1574, known for his dramatic use of chiaroscuro and deeply spiritual religious compositions. He spent formative years in Spain, where he absorbed influences from Caravaggio and developed his distinctive style characterized by intense emotional expression and dynamic light contrasts. He returned to Rome and became a leading figure in the early Caravaggesque movement, producing altarpieces and devotional works until his death in 1616.
