Michail Pirgelis
German-Greek(1973)
Michail Pirgelis is a German-Greek contemporary artist best known for his series 'Material Aerial,' in which he sources and transforms decommissioned aircraft fuselage panels into large-scale sculptural and painting works. By cutting, welding, and manipulating these industrial aluminum skins, he blurs the boundary between painting, sculpture, and found-object art. His practice interrogates themes of time, travel, memory, and the residual traces left on industrial materials.
