Maria Pergay (born 1930) is a French designer of Russian origin celebrated for her pioneering use of stainless steel in furniture and decorative arts, beginning in the late 1960s. Her sculptural, futuristic pieces, such as the iconic Flying Carpet sofa and Ring Chair, blurred the boundaries between fine art and functional design, earning her recognition as one of the most innovative designers of the 20th century. After a period of relative obscurity, her work was rediscovered in the 2000s and has since achieved significant prices at major auction houses worldwide.
