Li Wei

Li Wei is a Beijing-based contemporary Chinese artist renowned for his provocative performance-based photography in which he appears to defy gravity, crashing into mirrors, suspended in mid-air above cityscapes, or embedded in concrete and ice. His work blurs the boundary between photography and performance art, using acrobatic stunts, mirrors, and metal armatures to create striking illusions without digital manipulation. Li Wei's practice critically engages with rapid urbanization, the human body, and the social upheavals of contemporary China.
