Jan Frans van Dael (1764, 1840) was a Flemish-born painter who became one of the most celebrated flower painters in France during the Napoleonic era and the Restoration period. A student of Gerard van Spaendonck at the Jardin des Plantes in Paris, he gained renown for his exquisitely detailed floral still lifes, earning patronage from Empress Joséphine and the French royal court. His works are regularly featured at major auction houses including Christie's, Sotheby's, and Bonhams, consistently achieving strong prices among collectors of Old Master and 19th-century still life paintings.
