Jan Frans van Bloemen (1662, 1749), known as 'Orizzonte' for his masterful rendering of horizons, was a Flemish painter who spent most of his career in Rome. He became one of the leading landscape painters of his era, celebrated for his serene, classically composed views of the Roman Campagna bathed in warm, atmospheric light. His works were highly sought after by Grand Tour collectors and aristocratic patrons throughout the eighteenth century.
