Hermann Herzog (1832, 1932) was a German-American landscape painter celebrated for his luminous depictions of forests, rivers, and coastal scenes across Europe and North America. Trained at the Düsseldorf Academy, he emigrated to the United States in 1869 and became particularly renowned for his atmospheric portrayals of the Florida Everglades, Norwegian fjords, and the American wilderness.
