Hedda Sterne

Sterne was the only woman included in the famous 1950 "Irascibles" photograph but worked independently across styles from biomorphic abstraction to machine imagery. Her diverse practice resisted categorization within Abstract Expressionism. She is represented at MoMA, the Met, and the Whitney.
