George Robinson Fardon (1806, 1886) was a British-born photographer who became one of the pioneering figures in early California photography. He is best known for his 1856 publication 'San Francisco Album: Photographs of the Most Beautiful Views and Public Buildings of San Francisco,' considered one of the earliest photographically illustrated books of an American city. His documentary approach to urban photography captured the rapid transformation of San Francisco during the Gold Rush era, making his work invaluable both artistically and historically.
