Frank McCarthy (1924, 2002) was an American realist painter best known for his dramatic depictions of the American West, particularly action-packed scenes of Native Americans, cowboys, and cavalry. He began his career as a highly successful commercial illustrator and art director before transitioning to fine art painting in the late 1960s. McCarthy became one of the most celebrated Western artists of the 20th century, with his works widely collected and exhibited through the Galerie Capricorne and other prestigious venues.
