Francis Joseph Bruguière (1879, 1945) was an American avant-garde photographer known for his pioneering experiments with abstract light compositions, multiple exposures, and cut-paper abstractions. A close associate of Alfred Stieglitz and part of the Photo-Secession movement, he later broke from pictorialism to create visionary abstract works that placed him among the most innovative photographers of the early 20th century. His light abstractions and theater photography, as well as his experimental films, established him as a significant figure in both American and European modernist art.
