Chung Sang-Hwa creates labor-intensive paintings through a process of layering and tearing acrylic paint, then filling the resulting grids with additional layers. His tactile, gridded surfaces are key works of Dansaekhwa, exhibited at major institutions including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Centre Pompidou. He has lived and worked in France since 1969.
