Chen Shuren, Pine Tree

Chen Shuren (1884, 1948) was a pioneering Cantonese painter who played a foundational role in the Lingnan School of Chinese painting, which sought to modernize traditional Chinese art by incorporating Japanese and Western influences. He studied in Japan and later became a prominent political figure while maintaining a prolific artistic career, renowned for his vibrant depictions of flora, fauna, and landscapes.
