Benito Quinquela Martín

Benito Quinquela Martín (1890, 1977) was an Argentine painter celebrated for his vivid and expressive depictions of the La Boca neighborhood of Buenos Aires, particularly its bustling port, workers, and industrial waterfront scenes. Known as the 'Painter of La Boca,' he used bold, thick brushstrokes and a rich, dramatic palette to capture the energy and humanity of dockworkers and ships. Beyond painting, he was a dedicated philanthropist who donated schools, a theater, and his own studio-museum to his beloved community.
