Giuseppe Castiglione (1688-1766) was an Italian Jesuit missionary and painter who became a court artist in the Qing Dynasty, taking the Chinese name Lang Shining. He created works that synthesized Western and Chinese artistic traditions during the reign of the Kangxi and Qianlong emperors.
