Arthur "Espenet" Carpenter

Arthur Espenet Carpenter (1920, 2006) was a pioneering American studio furniture maker widely regarded as one of the founders of the American craft furniture movement. Self-taught as a woodworker, he established his studio in Bolinas, California, where he developed a distinctive organic aesthetic characterized by fluid curves, fine joinery, and a deep reverence for natural wood grain. His work helped elevate handcrafted furniture to the status of fine art and influenced generations of studio craftsmen.
