Alexander Koester

Alexander Koester (1864, 1932) was a German painter celebrated for his intimate and luminous depictions of ducks on water, earning him the nickname 'Enten-Koester' (Duck-Koester). He studied at the Karlsruhe Academy and later became associated with the Impressionist circles in Munich, where his work gained widespread collector appeal. His duck paintings, characterized by soft light and serene lakeside atmospheres, became highly sought after at international auction houses.
