Albert Christophe Dies (1755, 1822) was an Austrian-German landscape painter and art biographer best known for his atmospheric depictions of the Italian countryside, particularly the Roman Campagna and views around Naples. He studied in Rome under Jacob Philipp Hackert and became deeply influenced by the classical landscape tradition. He is also celebrated for his biographical writings on Joseph Haydn, providing one of the earliest firsthand accounts of the composer's life.
