Dietz Edzard (1893, 1963) was a German-born painter who spent much of his career in Paris, becoming closely associated with the bohemian artistic circles of Montparnasse. He was celebrated for his elegant depictions of ballet dancers, circus performers, and fashionable Parisian women, rendered in a soft, luminous style influenced by Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. His works were widely collected in Europe and America during his lifetime and continue to appear regularly at major auction houses.
