Ben Quilty

Ben Quilty is a painter known for thickly impastoed portraits and landscapes addressing masculinity, violence, and trauma through expressive, gestural brushwork. His work as an official Australian war artist in Afghanistan produced powerful portraits of soldiers. He won the Archibald Prize in 2011 and his work is held in all major Australian state galleries.
