Alina Szapocznikow created sculptures in polyester resin and other materials that explored bodily fragmentation and mortality, influenced by her experience as a Holocaust survivor. Her casts of body parts and tumorous forms anticipated feminist body art. Her work has been rediscovered and shown at MoMA and the Museum Ludwig.
