Fab 5 Freddy

Fab 5 Freddy, born Fred Brathwaite in 1959 in Brooklyn, New York, is a pioneering artist, filmmaker, and hip-hop ambassador who emerged from the late 1970s New York graffiti and street art scene. He bridged the worlds of hip-hop culture and the downtown Manhattan art world, collaborating with Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, and Blondie. He later became widely known as the first host of Yo! MTV Raps, cementing his role as a cultural connector between street culture and mainstream media.
