Piero Fornasetti (1913, 1988) was a prolific Italian artist, designer, and craftsman known for his highly decorative and surrealist-inspired work that blended fine art with applied design. He created over 11,000 objects, including furniture, ceramics, plates, and printed fabrics, often featuring his iconic trompe-l'oeil motifs, architectural imagery, and the recurring face of opera singer Lina Cavalieri. His distinctive black-and-white aesthetic and obsessive reimagining of classical themes made him one of the most original decorative artists of the 20th century.
