Theodore Wendel (1859, 1932) was an American Impressionist painter known for his vibrant depictions of the New England landscape, particularly scenes around Ipswich, Massachusetts. He studied under Frank Duveneck in Cincinnati and later in Europe, and was among the first American artists to work alongside Claude Monet in Giverny, France. His work is celebrated for its loose, light-filled brushwork and its pivotal role in introducing French Impressionism to American audiences.
