This work combines two distinguished Chinese artistic traditions: flowing xingshu calligraphy paired with an ink chrysanthemum painting. The composition demonstrates the classical literati ideal of uniting the written word with nature imagery, where the dynamic brushwork of the script complements the spontaneous rendering of the flower. The piece reflects the refined aesthetic sensibilities of its creators, Yao Yuanqing and Chen Hengke, both accomplished practitioners of traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy.
