Three Parallels

2022

Three Parallels is a large scale light installation composed of illuminated architectural volumes arranged in a gallery environment. The work consists of three rectangular structures with translucent panels that emit programmed color sequences, creating a dynamic interplay of light and reflection across the polished concrete floor. Smith's choreographed LED system generates shifting chromatic relationships over time, inviting viewers to experience how light and color perception transform the surrounding space. The installation demonstrates the artist's signature approach to immersive environments where architectural form becomes the substrate for temporal, phenomenological experience. Sited indoors, the work activates the gallery as a site of continuous color transformation and optical investigation.

Location
Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, Scottsdale, AZ
