Stroke
2014
This monumental bronze sculpture by Tony Cragg titled Stroke was created in 2014 and demonstrates the artist's signature exploration of dynamic organic forms rendered in polished warm golden brown metal. Twisted ribbon like planes of bronze rise from a concrete plinth and fan outward in a fluid gesture that suggests both motion and natural growth. Installed within the woodland setting of Skulpturenpark Waldfrieden in Wuppertal, the work engages powerfully with its surrounding forest environment. Stroke represents a compelling example of Cragg's mature sculptural practice and is an ideal acquisition for collectors drawn to large scale contemporary bronze.
