William Tucker (born 1935) is a British-American sculptor known for his monumental abstract works that explore the human figure through massively simplified, primordial forms. Trained at the Central School of Art and Oxford University, Tucker was a leading figure in British New Generation sculpture during the 1960s before emigrating to the United States in the 1970s, where his work evolved toward increasingly weighty, earth-bound bronze forms. His sculptures are held in major collections worldwide, and he is also a significant art theorist, having written the influential book 'The Language of Sculpture' (1974).
