Wang Yan Cheng

Wang Yan Cheng (born 1960) is a Chinese-French abstract painter known for his richly layered canvases that blend Eastern sensibility with Western abstract expressionist traditions. His work is characterized by luminous, jewel-toned fields of color built up through accumulations of gestural marks, drips, and washes that evoke landscape, light, and memory. Based in Paris since the 1980s, Wang has become one of the most internationally recognized Chinese painters working in lyrical abstraction, with his works held in major museum and private collections worldwide.
