Theresa Bernstein (1890, 2002) was an American painter and printmaker known for her vibrant, expressive depictions of everyday life, particularly scenes of working-class people, beaches, concerts, and social gatherings. A student of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, she was associated with the Ashcan School tradition and spent much of her career in New York and Gloucester, Massachusetts. Despite a long, prolific career spanning nearly a century, she was often overshadowed by her husband, fellow artist William Meyerowitz, and has experienced renewed critical recognition in recent decades.
