The Sicán Gold Mask is an iconic artifact produced by the Sicán (Lambayeque) culture of ancient Peru, flourishing between approximately 900 and 1100 CE. Crafted by highly skilled metallurgists in the Lambayeque Valley of northern Peru, these ceremonial masks feature distinctive upswept eyes, elaborate headdresses, and sophisticated alloying techniques using gold, silver, and copper. They were created as funerary objects for elite burials and remain among the most celebrated examples of pre-Columbian metalworking in the Americas.
