Santiago Cárdenas

Santiago Cárdenas is a Colombian artist born in 1937 in Bogotá, known for his highly precise and illusionistic realist paintings that explore everyday objects such as blackboards, screens, and fabric-covered surfaces. His work occupies a unique space between hyperrealism and conceptual art, using meticulous technique to question perception, representation, and the nature of painting itself. Cárdenas studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and Yale University, and has become one of the most significant figures in Colombian modern art.
