Saburo Murakami

Best known for his Gutai performance 'Passing Through' in which he burst through layers of paper screens, creating ephemeral works that challenged art's permanence. His screen-breaking actions became iconic images of the Gutai movement's radical approach. His documentation and paintings are held in Japanese national collections and the Guggenheim.
