Ramkinkar Baij

Ramkinkar Baij (1906, 1980) was a pioneering Indian modernist sculptor and painter, widely regarded as one of the founding figures of modern sculpture in India. Associated with Santiniketan, the cultural hub founded by Rabindranath Tagore, he created powerful works blending tribal, folk, and Western modernist influences. His monumental sculptures and expressionist paintings remain iconic in the history of South Asian art.
