Philippe Vandenberg

Philippe Vandenberg (1952, 2009) was a Belgian painter known for his raw, expressive, and often disturbing imagery that drew on themes of violence, desire, death, and the human condition. His work combined figuration with gestural abstraction, referencing art history while maintaining a deeply personal and confrontational visual language. Vandenberg is considered one of the most significant and underrecognized Belgian artists of his generation, gaining wider international recognition posthumously.
